Having root-level access to a server signifies that you will be able to view and update any file on it, including important system files. You can also install software that can update particular settings on your server during the process, so that the installation can be performed only if you are logged in as the root user. The aforementioned has full privileges, i.e. you will have full control over the machine whenever you want and you can do anything you'd like. You can also create other users either with the same rights or with fewer rights, depending on what you want them for - day-to-day tasks, other server admins, etcetera. To be on the safe side, it is usually recommended to use the root account only when you really need it and not for tasks that you can do through other accounts. You can use a web-based graphical interface or a Secure Shell console in order to connect to the server and to manage it at the root level.

Full Root-level Access in VPS

Our Linux VPS packages feature different degrees of access, to give you the option to choose the one you need, based on your level of experience and on what you will need the server for. When you buy a VPS with no Control Panel, you'll have full root-level access and you can control everything using a console, unless you install a third-party software instrument. The servers that are ordered with the DirectAdmin or the cPanel hosting Control Panel also feature full root access, but most of the things that are linked to your world-wide web content can be performed through a graphical interface and not a console. You will be able to install various frameworks or media streaming software, for instance, without any problems. If you get the virtual server with the Hepsia Control Panel, you may still use a Secure Shell console to connect, but the root access will be restricted. Yet, the Hepsia-equipped servers are the simplest to control.

Full Root-level Access in Dedicated Hosting

You will have full root-level access to your dedicated server no matter which plan you select throughout the registration process, as long as the server is provided with cPanel or DirectAdmin, or with no web hosting Control Panel at all. In each of these 3 cases, you can modify any part of the software environment in any way you find fit, that makes our server packages suitable for resource-demanding apps with specific requirements that can't be covered if you use a shared web hosting account. The difference between these options is that when you pick cPanel or DirectAdmin, you will have a web-based graphical interface to control various server-side options and also any site content that you create or upload, while if you order the server with no Control Panel, you'll have to perform everything through a Secure Shell console or to install a Control Panel of your own liking, if it's compatible with the Operating System that you've chosen throughout the registration process. With the last Control Panel option which you can select on our order page - Hepsia, the root access will be limited.
